D2 2004 V8 stalls when selecting gear
Most of the time it stalls when I select drive or reverse, occasionally the next intersection when I stop too, but never after that. No misses drives perfectly. But switch it off and try again and stalling.
Ive replaced the battery and the xyz switch, now I'm thinking wiring as I get a P0335 circuit malfunction. Does anyone know what's involved to access the crank sensor wiring...will pulling the heads off expose it?
I'm also going to drill out the transmission tunnel plate and check the xyz loom.
Anyone in Darwin have a good diagnostic unit that wont charge too much?
Anyone else had a similar issue?
Thanks

Crank sensor is accessed from under vehicle (to remove cover and bolts holding CPS in against flywheel) and on pass side down past exhaust manifold to unplug.
Cheers

crank sensor
I replaced the crank sensor, I'm worried I disturbed or damaged wiring going it.

Check electrical connection at idle air control valve.

I'll try that, been told to clean the throttle body too. definitively seems electrical.
Still wonder how sensitive the xyz switch adjustment is, but everything works as it should, rear wiper, dash indicator etc.

You can check XYZ switch on the dash display. Dash gear readout should match selector position.
Assuming engine is not cold, engine brain will raise idle if tranny is in a drive gear.
To test, move selector to be in no position (eg. halfway between D and N), so dash display is blank. Idle speed should increase.
If it doesn’t, the IACV isn’t opening.
