    Reverse camera wiring

    Hi all!

Needing some help before I finish off.

I’m wiring up a reverse camera that is mounted just above the license plate, all cables going through the rubber cable tube from tailgate door to rear cargo vent space.

I’ve run the video cable up from the cargo vent space to above the headlining, down the driver’s side pillar and to the fuse box. But left the power cable as it was a little short and assumed there would be somewhere for me to tap into for power.

I know I can route it to the brake lights so that the camera is powered when in reverse but I wanted to know if there is a constant power source I can tap into instead of the reverse lights as it’d be nice to be in drive and be able to select viewing of the camera

Below is a picture of the cables I have left to connect up. Hoping there to be some wires in the background I can use - please someone give me he good news.

If the power cables still at the back, tap into the aux power socket.

Isn't there also a "spare" powered green wire already in the back door? Or am I not remembering correctly. Which, the older I get, seems to be most of the time Reverse camera wiring

I’d recommend at minimum it be switched when ignition off, so not interior light supply.

You don’t want the camera on when the vehicles not running.

I took power for mine from the back of the rear aux socket which is on the left side of the rear load space..

Ended up splicing into the reverse light for power but still no feed to screen (video cable is connected to screen)

Have tested car in reverse, power is deffs going to wires but no image on the screen.

    Time for more problem solving

    Problem solved!

I wasn’t confident running the wires to the rear aux power on the left side so I extended the power cables and ran them on the same path as the video cable, down the driver side pillar and to underneath the steering column.

I tapped into “accessories” and “ground” that was wired for my rear view mirror for power and TA-DA!

Oddly enough “camera” input didn’t work but video did.
