    Debrief Session aka whinge.

I tried to rebuild the front prop shaft today
I buggered up the centre bearing. I couldn’t find all the little rollers to put back.
I had a look at a local supplier for a new prop shaft. The website stasted that all the unijoints are greasable. An email enquirey told me that the units do not have grease nipples WTF!
I’d buy a Tom Woods one but haven’t found one locally. I’d buy another second hand one, just to get the 4WD back. I have three winter camping trips to go on. Winter Wombat is one of them.
    End of rent.
Putting the other unijoints in went like a charm.

No doubt the usual suspects will have lots of “helpful” comments.

I was thinking Jeep Konnection in Hallam had Tom Woods shafts. They're about 45mins from you apparently.

I have found a mob in Tas that has greasable unis on a d2 front prop shaft. Waiting to see if they have grease nipples.
How can a uni joint be greasable without a grease nipple? By taking it apart.

I have a spare front propshaft if you're desperate.
Also bought a spare cardan bearing too coz I thought I'd stuff up the one I rebuilt for the bro.

PM me if you need assistance.

Many years ago when I replaced my uni's on the D2 , CBC bearings had them as a stock item. I think they are Hardie spicer ( I could be wrong ) and they were the Australian suppliers. They had the greasable units and came with 2 different grease nipples in the box.

Not sure if that helps or if there is a CBC bearings near you.

    Cheers Ean

A certain member thought they would get Hardie spicer complete Brand new Tail shaft i think the price was approx $500.00 Oh and the centre bearing is no longer greasable not needed in their opinion.

10.000 k latter it is dead centre the bearing let go all on road use
I feel the only option is a T/W shaft if you want them to last .

the unis are easy enough to locate, but the cardan bearing isn't all that common, even if you give them the various part numbers that they go under.
