    Reverse Camera Wire Routing.

I‘m putting ona reverse camera on the centre of the rear bumper and I’m wondering how to get the video cable inside the cabin. I’m thinking up behind the rear light and then behind the trim and head liner to where the sun roof switches are not.
I did see a good write up on this forum, but the photos are not visible. Some photo bucket thing.

    Any suggestions?

I ran mine through the rear light grommet on passenger side and then along the floor inside rear panel and then under carpet to the screen. My screen is in the replacement DVD unit for the radio /CD player.

My camera is on the rear door wheel carrier, the cable passes from the door through the flexible rubber factory cable conduit thingy into the body and from there under the carpet all the way up to the centre floor console. The screen is mounted in front of the high low range selector

Mine is in the bumper. Cable runs along chassis and passes through the firewall on the drivers side.
    Previous owner installed.

I had to fit a double din stereo/camera setup for my neighbor. Hmmm come to think of it he never paid me the slab to do that job!

Anyhoo he owns a 5 door greatwall. I ran the reverse camera from the stereo under the carpet along the doors to the back then up the back pillar and then into the roof. Coming into the back hatch via an existing grommet for the wiper etc.
Turned out to be a big job that took hours, mostly because he was looking over my shoulder and NOT SUPPLYING BEER!!!!!!

Hmm, I have fitted a wireless camera as I have mine next to the numberplate mainly to see the towbar. That saves the hassle of threading a second wire through the door gland and up the screen pillar to the centre.

After an initial problem with the receiver overheating on the above windscreen shelf, I fixed it by zip tying a bit of aluminum to the receiver with heatsink paste between.
    Works for me.

I have always found wireless to be problematic. Sure easy to get setup but for longevity i would go wired every time.
I feel the same about home security. Good example a neighbor gets the same security kit as me but wireless and pays a BOMB more. Mine works flawless and they have nothing but issues.
Again a royal pain to install but the rewards far outweigh. Thats my experience anyway.

I want to relocate mine to the bumper but wonder if it will survive my next river crossing. Any negative experiences to report, anyone?

Have been through water a few times. Haven’t had any electrical issues. It gets a bit foggy after prolonged rain, but think it’s a cheap (poorly sealed) unit.
