Hi folks,
This is a bummer without RAVE or a multimeter….
Today the Cigar lighter socket in the front and the accessory socket in the rear have stopped working. According to the owners handbook (the only doco I have access to ATM) says F15 (passenger compartment fusebox) is the culprit for the cigar lighter socket and F32 is responsible for the accessory socket so fuses are unlikely to be the problem.
Question is, what other possible culprits can there be ? I've visually checked all fuses and they all appear OK. Car starts and runs fine and I've not found anything else that doesn't work.
It could be worth noting that over the last couple of months there's been a lot of travel over very rocky, jolty and bumpy roads. It may also be worth noting that there has been no rain here for the last three months and humidity is been REALLY low.

OK thanks for that. Link 7 is OK - tested by substitution. I would've thought (perhaps stupidly) that seeings as the two sockets are so far apart that they'd be served by different earth connectors ?
Also I've found something else that doesn't work - the antenna preamp. Is that also served by Link 7 I wonder ? If it is then that points to something after link 7 and prior to the passenger compartment fusebox - I think... Perhaps a relay in the engine compartment ?

And a bit more info. Clock and radio backlights are not working with ignition on.
So, things that don't work :-
Cigar lighter (front)
Accessory socket (rear)
Radio antenna pre-amp
Clock backlight
Radio backlight.
I've managed to download (very SLOW over dodgy dialup) a copy of RAVE I and traced the circuit(s) around the place. All are fed via Link 7 and through a relay marked as R101 in this copy of RAVE. Which relay is that ? I can't find a reference to it anywhere except the copy of RAVE that I have.

Replace the aux circuits relay R7 engine bay
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
one thing i have found since owning my D2 , fuse position appears to be a guide in some occasion. Last issue i had i started at the top and pulled each fuse and checked it till i found the blown one. Good luck.
Thank you Sir - fixed.
Hmmm. Recently I needed to reseat R6 (glow plugs not working) and now R7... Took R7 out and sprayed some contact cleaner around the place and reseated it a few times and everything came back to life.
Seeing as two relays next to each other started playing up I thought I'd spend a therapeutic couple of hours taking the fuse box out and having a look. There was a mud wasp nest and associated corrosion under R6 and R7 so I cleaned that and all the corrosion up and put it back together and it's all OK now. How they managed to get in there and build a nest I'll never know. Given the amount of corrosion I'll put another fuse box in when I get home in a couple of months or so.
