    Coolant Loss

A friend has a 1999 D2 with a 2004 engine fitted that is leaking coolant into the oil.The previous history of the engine and D2 is not known.
The oil cooler etc has been replaced so this leaves either a cracked head or leaking head gasket.
My question is, if it is the head gasket can the head be machined ( provided it is not warped by a excess amount ) and be a long term repair ?

    Thanks in advance

Short answer- no. Long answer - nope. From other threads - the face is hardened. You can machine it and the hardness test may indicate it to be ok but depth of hardness has been compromised. So after some usage it will start to leak. Some dodgy repairs done like this to flick the car.

Done a few now, including my own D2. Running fine last 7 years.

No issues shaving the head, just check hardness after.

    Thanks for the reply's
I will investigate further and check that the head is not cracked, and go from there.

    Thanks
