    Watts link centre pin

Installed new bushes, centre seems to be moving around the main bolt, like the bolt is flogged out. Annoying.

    Anyone had a similar experience?

Here's a picture of new bush and genuine bolt there is a clearance, maybe check bolt with calipers, as it might have been flogged out causing the initial problem. Bolt is M16
I'll have a look at torque specs in Rave and post.
Did you tighten them whilst vehicle was on the ground with weight on vehicle see specs. below

Yeah, torqued up on ground. Too much movement there still. Whole assembly moves a couple of mm when weight transfers left/right. Maybe alloy bolt is flogged out.

From memory that bolt has a spacer and cast metal part on it. I think it may have an extra nut on the D2a for the damper. If these parts are not assembled correctly there is a chance even though it is torqued up you may simply have run out of thread.

Where is the bush moving? It is a unique kind of bush where the center swivels pretty freely inside the outer. It doesn't mater if the bush spins on the bolt, it is the friction on the ends that hold it tight.

If you are trying to ID a clunk sound, it is probably your control arm bushes, not these bushes. Especially if the car seems to need a little more correction on the steering wheel when accelerating or braking. If it is just accelerating, maybe it is your rear lower transmission mount. Very difficult to tell if it has failed unless you take the weight off the auto and undo the bush nuts.

I think the different lengths are for if the damper is fitted or not.

Yes the damper is fitted from vin 3A779502, so shorter bolt on the early models,

    Watts link centre pin

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing but my 99 model has a round weight bolted to the diff which is also lashed by a cable to the pin of the watts link.

So it goes pin through centre watts bush and mount, nut, cable, washer (to retain cable), nut.

Bush movement is in horizontal and vertical planes relative to pin.

Jam a bar between centre bush and mount and movement and clunck are gone.

    Car drives and steers well.

New pin is on its way. Will report back with results.

    Thanks lads.Watts link centre pin

This is what we were talking about but it doesn't apply to yours, as yours is 1999 model so doesn't have this damper which is on the last vins.
