Bearings Vs Steering Rack
Hi All,
Just doing some front wheel checks. Both wheels raised. Rock top to bottom no movement, 9 o'clock-3 o'clock ie side to side doesn't feel like bearing movement but there is a clunk side to side and I can see the steering wheel move back and forward ie I am turning the steering wheel via the tyres? Is this normal?
Rdgs

I reckon try it with engine running (power steering?)

normal for the steering wheel to move , but the clunk could be play in track rod or drag link ball joints , get someone else to move the wheels side to side while looking / feeling for play, also check pitman arm and steering damper.
d2's don't have a steering rack, they have a steering box and above mentioned components

Clunk could be steering damper.
