Third locks at 70kmh indicated on the speedo and unlocks at 50.
In my case that is about 75KMh by the GPS .
It helps to lock if you ease off at 70Kmh+

The ECU from an auto Td5 will improve matters for a manual Td5 because the auto ECU's fueling is set up to come in much lower to overcome torque converter slip on pull away, so a manual with an auto ECU will be better off the mark.
So has any body tried it yet? Keen to see if it works but don't want to be the guinea pig [emoji16]
A friend of mine who has a scrapyard made few tests on his own D2 and in two cases the result was good with V8 EAT ECU and once it was worst, i don't remember the p/ns involved but iirc the low compression one was not OK and it was well with two high compression ECUs and not the same .... there are 13 versions of V8 EAT ECUs and it's not only about superseded part numbers, there are differencies in theyr's addaptive strategy and IMO it depends very much on what kind of fuel map is in the engine ECU and how the two ECUs will match, so if you want to make experiments you'll have to make serious research which EAT ECU to try according to what kind of fuel map or other tuning you have cos it will not be the same...here is the list:

It'd be interesting to know what the difference is with regards to compatiilty.
eg cant mix pre-post EU update, MY update, variations on MY components, Hi/Low compression, flash/non flash ECU or maybe if it is related to SLABS or something else. .
IMO there will not be two vehicles to behave the same cos even the vehicle's weights and tyre dimensions are involved due to the VSS.... to not eliminate the human factor too, yes i agree that it's not simple at all and the results can be various
I'm guessing someone with the knowledge has tried, but ideally you'd flash reprogram the auto ECU to suit whatever you wanted.
Change points, lockup points, etc.
Lockup in all four gears in low range?
Yes we can.
