As mentioned in other threads, I've tried a few different Chinese LED headlight replacements, and this style was by far the best.
As long as you like the 6000k white light you wont be disappointed with the performance.
I would be very surprised if the lights mentioned earlier in this thread are any different to these, except for branding. It is possible he has better quality components fitted, but I'd want to see proof that they are 'better'.
The trouble with Chinese suppliers is, they will lie through their teeth about their products, so even an Australian supplier can't guarantee what's actually in them.
For example, 'CREE' was once the must have LED brand (Made in USA), so Chinese manufactures would fit Cree LED chips (Just one small component of the overall device), then they'd add their own drivers and other components all made in China. Then they would market them as Cree lights, but they are 99% Chinese made.
You get what you pay for, JW Speaker (USA) 7" lights are still $900-$1200 a pair. I recently fitted a Rigid Industries (USA) 28" light bar to a customers car, $1200 but has a lifetime guarantee.
Anyway, I wouldn't hesitate giving these a go for the price, if you don't like them sell them to someone else............

He tells me he does quality control at his end and very low failures. For me having compliance with the regs is important. I dont want to be a long way from home and the boys in blue can my night travel because my lights dont have the right compliance markings etc. Plus his kit includes some more plastic fittings for the ball fittings and steel surround that all seems to fit up nicely.

Are these the kind of lights that when someone in a car that was never designed to have LED headlights sits behind you it is like they have high beams on? Because it they are then you need to be in a car that is in front to truly realise what a stupid modification this is!
Unless you replace the entire assembly to one that was designed to take LED bulbs, which have vastly different characteristics to incandescent bulbs then spend your cash on something worthwhile.
I'm not surprised it is illegal.
The Ultraflex are legal. The inserts from Steady to halogen reflectors are not (got a reply from Steady today noting to that effect)

I reckon every second or third car on the road have badly adjusted headlights.
Properly designed (ie. not the cheapest junk available!) globes irrespective of their physical operation will provide well directed light, as the lens(ie. the front glass) or the reflector area had intended.

The LED retrofit light cannot legally be installed in on-road vehicles. Lumileds cannot accept any responsibility and/or liability. It is your own responsibility that the use of the LED Retrofit lights complies with applicable legal requirements.

I've had the ultraflexes on for a year or so. Throws great light. Has a good quality feel to them and works as advertised.
I can't speak for the metal plate that houses the headlight as I broke mine when folding them for installation (posted flat, to be foldered by owner). My options were to order another set of plates and pay for them plus shipping or get it laser cut locally for much less.
As a result, fitment is a bit loose but nothing some tape couldn't fix (until I get around to drilling the light and the plate then screwing them together)
