Do you recall the bearing number?
There are a few part numbers(so to speak).
The one(s) I got were an EAC part, number E470081. Cost was around 12UK pounds, but the killer was shipping(as to be expected).
But I got 3 all up, and hence save a little on postage per unit.
(ps. got 3 cos my mechanic wanted one to fix a D2, brother has a D2(the one we rebuilt) and I have a D2 soon to be on the road)
So the three ended up costing approx $40 a pop, but would have been about $60(with postage) had I only got the single.
The other part I found easily was the American sourced Moog 617 bearing.
Plenty of sources, but again the shipping was the killer.
I contacted 3 bearing places around me(30klm radius) none could help even tho I gave them various part numbers found around here!
Having previously had dealings with Driveline Services, when I owned trucks, I had no hesitation in using their services again.
They looked at my shaft and declared it repairable but I also asked them about building a shaft with 1310 joints. It's doable, it's ordered.
The D/C is a very high quality English made unit, the rest is Australian made, employing Australians. Price is within a whisker of the Tom Woods shaft and durability is at least equal or better.
If anybody else is interested in one of these shafts, I'm happy to put you in touch with the fellow I'm dealing with.
I'd love to see photos when you get your hands on it Ian.
Better than photos, Rick; I'll let you come up and fit it. [biggrin]
another front drive shaft?
shouldnt be continuously happening should it?
My shaft and U/Vs are the originals, done 160k.
Got my TW from off road konnections too. Price better than what was possible direct from TW and got to me in a couple of days.
For those who have rebuilt, I’ve now got my original one and the one I pulled (early I’d say) for the TW. Average of about 170k each. To what extent is a rebalance required/recommended once rebuilt?

Our upgraded 1310 series double cardan is built for Australian conditions. The double cardan itself is designed and exported from the UK and NOT China. Quality cast forging and 3 greaseable points make this double cardan the bees knees for our environment. The Universal joints are larger and stronger than OE, manufactured in Japan. The glide coat splines are also greaseable. The shafts are dynamically balanced and built here at our workshops in Australia.
Many aftermarket parts are from China so this puts our product in front of our competitors (nationally and internationally) as we manufacture to a quality and not a price. If you love your Land Rover you want quality and we understand this, we deliver quality. With many workshops around Australia, Driveline Services is here to answer any questions you have and service your requirements.
Please see attached flyer. I hope I have been of an assistance and look forward to hearing from you.
I'm not sure if the attachment has worked.
