Ha! Go on suffer like the rest of us.

I saw a blog by someone with a Golf GTi who drilled and tapped a hole in the bottom of his and ran some kero through it.
However I think that would be very hard to do on a D2.
It's not too bad once you have done it a few times.

The hardest thing on my D2 is the bloody screw that holds the trim pieces next to the grille on. I ended up buying a long screwdriver that fitted between the tyre and into the gap in the guard.
Otherwise its just undo several nuts and bolts , taking the horns out and doing the ones behind, and pulling the radiator back. IMHO it's best to take off the VC fan etc.

I have just bought a new radiator from Mario, and I have to do all that before I can take out the radiator. So when you are doing it , take out and clean the radiator as well.

If you are leaving the radiator in, then put a cardboard sheet or mdf on the fins to protect them.

I did it without removing the fan first time and it was a right pita. Second time I removed the fan and it was easy...

Me thinks probably best to remove id cleaning it with solvents or if final water flush so you can tilt and drain it as you don't want any liquid left that can get sucked up into the intake.

I put acetone through mine then degreaser.
I then flushed it with water and then blew it dry by using a vacuum cleaner on blow.
