While not a powerhouse when stock they are quicker than a 300 tdi unless it's well tuned.
    a well tuned td5 is a V8 beater.

Oh yeah ... you should really have had someone experienced with these have a pre purchase look, but you knew that and will no doubt enjoy it anyway
Good info - thanks. Will have a decent look the performance properly once I've got the RWC sorted (which is after getting the County back on the road after .

Yeah - I know having someone experienced with D2/Td5 would have been good, but we're very time poor at present and even trying to co-ordinate with my wife for her to look at vehicles was a challenge, let alone a third person.
I'm reasonably competent on the end of a hammer and have managed to successfully beat most things into submission in the past so I'm picking the D2 won't be any different. Just need to work out the best place to hit it!!!

Now hang on, I'm I farmer, and come to think of it I actually have a couple of fob watches, and a couple of td5s as well, my query is this: what's wrong with penny farthing races?

    I think I've just become a stereotype......

Haha. I love it. Glad someone bit.

I actually don't mind a PF race. Saw a good one in Tassie once.

    Cheers

and you can expect to see me around this area a bit more asking dumb questions about electronic and computer thingies that I have NFI about.

If it all gets too much for me I'll just head to the shed, start up the County and stick my head under the bonnet. That should realign a few brain cells

    Check exhaust manifold

I had a similar problem with my 2003 Td5 and it turned out a couple of studs on the exhaust manifold had broken, causing the manifold to warp and exhaust gases to escape rather than spooling the turbo. My local Landy expert removed studs and threaded new ones in, and now she's like new again! I can usually out accelerate other vehicles at the traffic lights, so the one you drove perhaps suffered the same problem.

    TD5 performance

I have a 2003 TD5. Goes a heck of a lot better than the earlier TD5 . I was the same opinion that they where sluggish but my 2003 goes quite good. Economical they aren’t as good as the TDI though.
