    TD5 Disco not starting.

    Hi there,
Would appreciate any advice about my 2001 TD5 Disco 2.Located Hobart Tasmania.
Last week the fuel pump started screaming its head off,I replaced it with a new VDO unit and went through the purge
process .Then tried to start ,but no go. Whilst cranking the two green lights Manual mode,Sport mode are flashing.
I do not have a Nanocom ,but am thinking maybe i should buy one as I have read of others clearing faults to fix problems.
Any Ideas would be great .

    Thanks, Steve

Make sure the battery is fully charged.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Is it turning over or like others have said is the battery a bit low, low battery will throw up the m+s fault light. If its turning over pretty good maybe try purging it again just to see if maybe there is some air still left in there and not letting it run.

    Hi mate!

Even after you have primed the system, you will need to crank for 20-30 seconds with foot flat to the floor until white smoke comes out of the exhaust, then ease up off the throttle.

Also - did you do a new seal with the fuel pump assy?

And - did you replace fuel filter also?

Either can be a source of air leaking into the lines.

I live in Tassie now (Franklin), work in Hobart, have Td5 nanocom and am familiar with the joys of M+S lights.

My most recent cause was road speed error from either oil in ECU loom or loose wire from ratio unit (corrects for oversize tyres) blanking speedo signal.

Hit me up with a PM if you want to meet up for some fault finding.

    Adam.

    As already noted...

*ignition on, press throttle 5 times until engine light flashes, wait for it to purge.
*Good battery needed, crank with throttle flat to floor.
*When it starts to stumble and fire a bit, bring throttle half way until it fully starts.
    *IGNORE white smoke.
*IGNORE other fault lights (one problem at a time right?)
    Regards

As above. I **** myself the first time i did major work on the fuel system. Ended up getting new battery and going for it as above, bit of a cough and fart and then off she went. i had ran the purge several times with no luck.
