Or not. Lotus use Toyota engines. They do not have provents or any kind of factory fitted catch can. You need to be careful about what people post here as some people are just plain ignorant, brain dead almost.

Been busy for the last week or so and haven't been able to get to it but today is the day. First problem is that there is no way that the fan will come off. Last time I had the fan off a couple of years ago it came off with only a couple of taps on the end of the fan spanner. This time I've tried all sorts of methods of holding the pulley still while I THUMP the fan spanner and there is no movement at all. I'm starting to think that the incompetent fools who last had the fan off may have used Loctite on it. And yes, I am treating it like a normal right hand thread.
Next step some heat and more thumping on the end of the spanner.
OK so now I'm stuck. Heat didn't work with the fan. It seems that there is no amount of force that will loosen it.
Looks like the battery box and stuff comes out so I can change the alternator with the fan in place unless someone has a novel solution to the fan removal problem.... The only thing that I can think of that will cause this degree of stuckness is the dreaded Loctite. That means that I won't be cleaning out the intercooler and doing the other stuff I had planned. Oh well such is Land Rover life.
Tried these ??

Yep, used a 36mm brand name open ender and a proper holding jig. This morning with the aid of a couple of lengths of water pipe we managed to break the open ender. I've just finished taking the battery box out along with sundry other bits and got the serpentine belt off which I can see being a PAIN to refit with the fan in place.
It's now lunch time so I'm going to eat, have a cuppa and calm down a lot...:-)
