    Water jacket threaded plug?

have had a coolant leak coming from the plug on the TD5 for some time now and will be in a position to fix it in the next few days.

Just wondering, from anyone that has already done it, just how difficult it is to remove the plug. I suppose it would be easier to remove with the engine heated, but this makes it difficult to initially pull apart. I also understand that the plug is not normally replaced but is cleaned, thread sealer applied and then reused. Is it a normal thread or reversed?
Am I going to need any big arse tools to remove it?

Mine came out easy on a cold engine.
Normal thread, I cleaned up the original plug and used Stag as the sealer on reassembly.
Big Allen key required, possibly 14mm can’t remember 100%.

thanks for that info and good to know that it came out fairly easily.
any chance that it's a 1/2" square drive as in that on a 1/2" breaker bar? I've also got a fairly large Torx with 1/2" drive that I used to remove the bearing behind the cooling fan ... that might even fit.

Mine was definitely a hex drive, thinking about it it might have been nearer a 10mm or 12mm.

torque settings for that hex 12mm?

Anyone knows the torque settings for that bolt? it seems very tight and seems carrying some king of paste... Threadlock or sealant?
