On my own D2a I have done (keep in mind mine is a manual)

*Removed all mufflers and rear resonator (improvement i suppose noticeable, maybe smoother) BUT with rear resonator removed it does have a bit of a diesel bark to it.
*If you leave the rear resonator on, its the same improvement but its quiet, forget the sports mufflers.
*A hybrid turbo, GREAT improvement, worth the dollars, do a search here for the thread.
*Remap from ALIVE tuning again GREAT tune and value for money, mine is a bit nuts, but it will burn off my brother inlaws V6 turbo diesel Navara (I want to be ignorant and NOT know what my EGTs are under full noise, they wont be good)
*Going to put a bigger intercooler on it, trying on the cheap first, Britparts do one thats supposed 30% bigger, it may or may not work well, but geez a good brand is soooo expensive!

My Alive remap was done with the thought of running a rebuilt engine, which i will start shortly.

P.S My disco is on loan to a customer at the moment and they did a country run and got better than 10L/100km

Dose anyone in Australia offer dyno tuning similar to what Alive offer??
Like Drive in “here’s my car with this mods make it do XYZ for my intended use”?

Yeah so it does seem I am getting charged $350 to send a file over the internet. I would much rather find someone with a nanocom that could help me out.
I'm in Brisbane/Ipswich but don't mind travelling tbh. Especially if it is going to save me $350.
Anyone know of a gentlemen around Brissy with a nanocom that would be willing to help?
I have sent Alive an email, but what sort of info do you fellas think they would require apart from the file to get the best tune possible?

    Thanks guys, Chilla.

forget the sports mufflers? What do you suggest then? A straight through pipe instead of a muffler, or a straight through muffler?

Just keep the original muffler if it’s in good condition. You’ll thank us when the wife and kids aren’t complaining about the drone!!

Alive should ask you to send what info they require I’d assume?
But would be stuff like egr and cat delete, type of turbo (Standard?) what you are expecting? Type of driving etc

When I had my tune done I renewed all my sensors as I didn’t know the history of them as they could have been original and at least 16 years old!! I did the MAP, MAF and waste gate modulator and the little connection hoses changed to silicon. This is because the tune I have uses this to adjust/keep in check the boost. Also changed all intercooler hoses and did a flush on the intercooler.
And if you haven’t already done so get your exhaust manifold de-webbed, machined flat and ceramic coated plus do the studs at the same time. Here’s the stud kit TD5 Manifold Extended Stud Kit - AlliSport

I’m currently looking into a hybrid turbo (there was a group buy that’s possibly still active if you email the supplier??) Look it up in the group buy section.

Really depends how far you want to push it?

Spend the next week trawling through the forum and then make the call on what you’d like after that??

    Cheers Lemo

*As long as you leave the resonator (thats the last little muffler just at the end of exhaust) a straight through pipe is fine, I've got plenty of customers with D2 TD5 / Defender TD5 and they dont drone, ask what people have here.

*Yes when you send MAP to ALIVE, give details of mods, straight exhaust, hybrid turbo, bigger intercooler etc and what sort of use you want to do with it, as in long haul caravan towing etc. You will then get a tune that suits your needs.

Yes I also didnt mention re-building the rest of the Disco.....

Thats the key bit isnt it .... one with a Dyno, I'm sure there is, its finding them.
My total gripe with so many "remappers" is how are they basing their tune, on what, its all good if the customer doesnt complain and is happy?
So many rip off other businesses maps and tweak them for their own.

Places such as BAS clearly do and have Dyno testing / results.

Im running decat straight through exhaust with just the resonator on the back and mine is a manual and no noticeable drone.
The manuals do not seem to drone as bad as the Autos with out a centre box.

Is downloading the file easy enough following the steps given by the nanocom (with an external 12v power supply) or is there a tutorial I should read first?
