    Differential question

I recently bought a 1988 110FFR (ex army) the front diff in it is noisey, when I bought the 110 it came with a replacement diff in a box, but on examination it has an odd looking flange on the front, and I believe this to be a Discovery diff, what I need to know is ? can that flange thing be removed and a standard L/R flange fitted, I also believe that the earlier 110's have a 10 spline planetary gears the diff in the box has the 24 spline, ? so can anyone point me to either an exploded diagram or something similar, cheers and Thank You in advance, Dennis

Yes it can be removed. The perenties had 10 spline fronts, you can actually remove the filler plug and see the side gears of the diff to determine what spline is in yours.

Yes but you would need after market halfshafts. The diff would then be the weak point and is the hardest thing to replace.
