			TD5 Auto Vibrations

					Hi all,
i have recently purchased a 2000 D2 TD5 Auto that has a few troublesome vibrations.
      1. Between 2000 and 2300 rpm there are rough vibrations from the engine/ transmission. Smooth below 2000 rpm and over 2500.
      2. When i stop and idle in drive it shakes the whole vehicle. Putting it into neutral it stops.
Any ideas?
Torque converter maybe???
TIA

Sounds like a combination of engine mounts ( get genuine) and if it's a rattle / vibration at 200-2300 revs, handbrake backing plate / shoes and / or the harmonic weight that hangs in front of the backing plate having loose nuts ( 15 mm )
Try putting a block of rubber or wood in between a jack and the sump and just taking a bit of weight off the engine mounts to see if the idle vibration disappears, chock wheels and make sure handbrake works if in drive
Gently lift the handbrake to see if the rattle goes away at 2000-2300 revs
If the handbrake is way out of adjustment ( should be 2-3 clicks ) then adjusting can temporarily reduce the vibration
The backing plate will probably need welding / grinding where the shoes sit and new springs / shoes to eliminate completely
Also worth making sure it is running on all 5 cylinders

Check out my thread (recent post) as well as a very lengthy sticky post about the same thing (search TD5 auto vibration, it has around 409 replies)
If it stops vibrating when in N and stationary this removes all but Torque converter in terms of drive line
