Exclamation D2 top ball joint boot replacements

Thought this might be handy for others in the future:

Yesterday while replacing the top passenger side ball joint I managed to catch a small part of the rubber boot on a corner of the receiving cup putting a small tear in it. I probably should have removed it prior to fitment but didn't want to risk dirt or such entering the joint.

There is no listing on Microcat of replacement boots by themselves, only complete ball joint but managed to match up a universal generic replacement at Repco Auto Parts - the part number is TE4 and they had them on their shelf out the back. The diameter of the large and smaller holes are slightly smaller (a mm or two) but it seems to fit well.

I did the same to my bottom BJ and just sealed it with Rtv. Thanks for the Repco heads-up.

I didn't think of that. Probably would have worked perfectly in my case too as my tear was pretty small and around on the more protected side.
