Won’t start and indicators blinking even with key out

TD5 2000 discovery 2. Been away for 4 weeks. Battery was flat but charged overnight and good. Started and ran in driveway for 20 minutes. Shut down for a couple of hours. Started again and driven for 10 minutes, turned off, got out (didn’t lock it). Got back in 1 minute later. Went to start and it won’t. Flashing indicators when ignition off and key out. Flashing indicators and M and S when key in and on (won’t start).

    Nanocom gives:
13-05 engine speed input signal intermittent or missing current 254 times
19-04 front left shuttle valve open circuit intermit. 254 times
27-05 shuttle valve switch electrical failure intermittent 254 times

Cleared the faults and disconnected battery now to allow it to “reset” (if that happens?).

Any clues before I resort to a tow?

Has now restarted after I reset the faults and left battery disconnected for 2 minutes. Earlier I had just left battery disconnected for as long but flashing indicators and no start for that try. Seems the reset of the faults has “worked” (might go straight honme now and use another car today).

Also looked like brake master cylinder filler was more full than I’d have it (push back of fluid due to failure in ABS shuttles?). No longer a won’t start but keen to hear theories in what it might be I start investigating.

Got home. Shut down. Tried to start again - started momentarily the. Shut itself down and went back to flashing indicators etc per above.

Mods can you move this out of the emergency and SOS section and into the TD5 disco technical discussion section or similar?

I suspect now something to do with ABS and it didn’t bring up errors when driving to avoid causing issues but does stop restarting the car. I did had 3 amigos a few times before we went away a month ago - haven’t checked again on Nanocom for fault list yet. Will do later today.

    Anyone seen this before?

ABS issues should not stop it starting. Is it a manual or auto? If an auto maybe XYZ switch or not in park correctly.

It’s an auto but my experience of xyz being out of position in the past is just a failure to start not the blinking indicators and MS flashing. Also it did restart once I got home and then shut itself down to start flashing indicators. Seemed almost as though it started, then found some error and then shut down and flashed indicators to tell of the error. Thanks for the idea though I’ll go and play with the shifter while trying to start to see if it makes a difference.

That’s an idea I like the sound of, I’ll give it a crack in the morning (although it did start and run after I cleared the 3 reported nanocom faults without having pressed the cut out switch). I’ll give it a go anyway in the morn.

Maybe it could be a faulty engine crank angle sensor?

After letting it think about its actions overnight (and reading the google libraries), this morning I reconnected the battery, pumped the inertia switch a good 10 or 20 times - didn’t click back down as such but did move up and down a little), I turned the key to see MS flashing (but not the indicators) and started first go. MS stopped flashing straight after it started running and haven’t come back nor have the indicators made a return. Ran it for a bit, turned off and on a few times and no prob. Will take it for a run a bit later when the day cools back down.

If it is just the inertia switch I can’t quite understand why it would “trigger” and yet clearing the listed faults and having battery off for 5 minutes (withOUT pressing the inertia switch) allowed it to run again and then when I turned off the engine and tried to restart yesterday it went back to not starting. Why would the inertia switch kind of “partially” go off if it’s designed for allowing emergency access, flashing lights and shutting off engine in a crash?

Make sure the battery is fully charged.
