    Am I HOT?

I am probably just looking for reassurance since I don't have enough experience with this car.
    D2A , auto, 2003/4, diesel.
Took her for a spin yesterday, 40 degrees ambient, 100kph, cruise on, absolutely flat road, 95-96 degrees showing on the Nanocom.
No extra load in the car except an empty fridge, just driver, ARB bull bar, 6" spots by 2, nothing else in front of the car.
    Is that to hot?

When I bought the car it was more like 88-90 but that was mid year and the ambient temps were more around low to mid 30's.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

PS I am used to the D3 which pretty much sat on 88 in most conditions.

Absolutely nothing to worry about in my experience, with 102-105 regularly spotted. It will go into limp mode at around 118 deg but too hot by that time, with 112-115 a better upper limit.

    Thanks,
Maybe I'm just a worry wort, but the horror stories of D2's cooking has given me a little paronioa.
It ran like a top & somehow that worries me as well.
    Nothing wrong with me then!

I have just fitted an 82c thermostat and so far the results are pretty good.
Normally at idle when hot my D2a V8 runs at 94c-95c, With the new thermostat that has come down to 84c-85c a 10c differance

Last summer towing a 2t camper at around 95 to 100kph from Coober Pedy to Marla in 45 deg C heat (according to the external temp in the climate control) the Nanocom says it stayed under 105DegC. Your result would indicate a cooling system in pretty good condition I'd say.

IIRC the fan cuts in at 110 then out at 105.

I made a monitor that flashed the gearbox temperature light with increasing frequency above 100, with the range 100-105 giving a flash every 5 seconds. The only time it got that hot was idling through towns on hot days in a high gear at low revs, necessitating downshifting 1 gear to increase circulation.

I'm assuming that although the gearbox light was flashing, it was measuring coolant temp? Neat!

As Blknight says the TD5 is designed to run at up to 120C, but like everyone else, I'd be nervous at that and looking for ways to cool ASAP.
