    new owner advice

hi, had my d2 for a month now and was hoping a seasoned disco owner could be bribed with a carton of their choice to come drive mine and advise if it all feels and sounds normal. Having nothing to compare it to im not sure about flat spots and a little harshness in the td5.
im down in Mandurah if anyone is willing to share knowledge and wisdom.TIA

    OK, send fuel vouchers.

You've picked the wrong time of the year for a quick response.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I wasn't really expecting much response, but it's worth a try. Might book it in somewhere next week see what they think.

    Hi/Welcome.
I'm assuming you think yours is standard? There are a few D2 TD5 guys down your way, but if you get desperate and/or no better response, you are welcome to come to Freo, swap cars for a drive and I'll connect up the nanocom to see what it tells us. Mine does have a few mods, but nothing out of the ordinary or over the top. There are also a couple of D2 TD5 guys close by here. As noted, you could have a short term issue with people away on holidays.
    Cheers Gavin

Wow, thanks Gav, that's a great offer, I've just received my nanocom this week a quick lesson in that would be nice. I've put 32's on and wondering if that's my problem. If you're willing to help just name a time, day and drink and I'll come up. Need some more coffee pods in Garden City anywaynew owner advice

You’re welcome to call by Leeming as well on the way through to/ from Garden city as well. Mine is unmolested (unlike Gavin’s ) and I know my way around the nanocom

Which reminds me Gavin we’re over due for a catch up. Dare I say it a 3 way meet could be possible. Working 2nd and 4th otherwise around and about home.

pop us a pm if interested either way.

    cheers

    Steve

No no ...dont let him drive your Disco !!

    The OP
You could drop it past me and I will happily tell you everything thats wrong with it. Most of the items I could prolly guess right now

Gavins D2a is a good example of how a Disco should run

I think that the tune of your TD5 depends on your mood, whether you are wearing your hearing aids, the temperature of the day and probably whether a Haitian has stuck pins in a voodoo doll replica of your D2.

Soemtimes I drive along and think gee the old girl is going well. Other times I think geez that vibration is a PITA . Is it getting worse?
The things to check when you buy a D2 are many but the most serious are "has the previous owner ever replaced the oil pump bolt? Have the battery terminals been replaced with real world ones? has the bloody fuel pressure regulator been replaced or is it leaking? Has the fuel temperature heat exchanger had new orings, or is it leaking? Has the handbrake backing plate been welded and new shoes fitted or does the thing sound like an anvil chorus at 2100RPM? Are the engine mounts sagging down to the hole ( yes probably), Are the bottom front shock mount bushes still there? Do the three amigos light up when the ignition is turned on or has someone removed the bulbs? Does it start first pop or are the injector washers leaking ( probably),Has the injection loom got oil in it? ( yes probably)and has it reached the ECU? Has the fluid ever been replaced in the auto? Are the auto hoses leaking? Do the bottom ball joints still have boots?
    Just the start.
    Regards Philip A
