Got mine to do , done them for the last 3 services , just used some that come from Hobart , nothing wrong with them,
Q what is the difference in quality, from very expensive ones to the cheaper ones, bar mark up and price
Personally I'd only use Mann-Hummel and no others. ie. Mann, genuine or whoever else suplies Mann in their box.
The centrifuge isn't a place I'd try and save some $$
+1 with rick130 I only use Mann filters motors are expensive filters aren't.
If nothing wrong with them, then why are you asking...?
This is the easiest way to tell the quality of the filter. I've tried the cheap ones and they don't spin when the engine shuts down - likely they're also not spinning, or not spinning as fast, when the engine is running. The expensive ones, genuine and OEM, all keep spinning for a while after engine shut down. That's enough of a difference to confirm for me that the cheap ones aren't worth it.
Use an accurate torque wrench for the cap bolts and you should be fine. Better still get replacement longer bolts as the thread goes further than the thread of the original bolts which should help reduce an instance of a stripped thread.
Drill and tap them to the next size up while you're at it.
