Thread: TD5 radiator fan upgrade interest

Why is the factory Patrol one so crap? I didn't think the Td5 was notably prone to overheating, even when the radiator is half blocked with mud.

Isnt the TD42 the DIESEL
Tb42 was a petrol

People seem to ask about how hot their TD5 is running frequently on the forum. Just thought it could be a solution. Mine runs hotter then I'd like and the time it takes to recover worries me so thought I'd have a crack at this setup and if it works I'll recommend it.

Some people are a little over zealous with their interpretation of high temps when they have their Nanacom in instrument mode
What temps are you seeing and what sort of recovery time do you expect ?

On my way home today the hottest part of the day the Ambient was 44 by the gauge .
Mine by the Nanacom spiked at 96 degrees lowest was 88 degrees .
This was a half hour drive with hwy speeds(100 kph) with some hills then some stop start city traffic
The recovery from the higher end varied from almost instant to a slow drop depending on the driving conditions ,traffic ect.
All this with AC on

I see up to 114 but often 105. It can take 5 mins on the freeway at 100kmph to recover from a spike. For eg. Today it was sitting at 98 drove up a hill with cruse control at 100 and AC on, got up to 107 and didn't come back down to 98 for 3 mins.

Thermo stat ?

Any driving lights ?

114 is too high to be normal i have my alarm set for 106 on the nanacom.

Radiator, thermostat, water pump and fan all less than 12 months old. The header tank needs replacing at the minute and that's why I've been keeping a keen eye on it. Yes I have driving lights like every other four wheel drive in existence.
