I don` care who makes the best excuse but the delays have been going on way to long and into years in fact
Yes they might be good but there plenty of just as good if not better just look a little harder than Dumb Book .

Got a 03 D2a TC donor & I saw before Xmas that Ashcroft now sells a custom flex plate that enables the 4 bolt hole TC to be bolted up to the TD5 flywheel. I cannot find it on their website now but they advised they should be back in stock the end of this month so will probably be relisted then. It can be seen on their TD5 heavy duty TC page.

Seems like a reasonable option rather than modifying the V8 TC. The TC bolts are somewhat more difficult to access

Has anyone tried this option as I'd be interested in feedback.

2 weeks ago I installed an ashcroft V8 converter into my TD5 disco 2a. I had purchased an ashcroft stage 1 ZF4hp22 and installed at the same time aswell. Ashcroft had already drilled the 28mm hole in the bellhousing to assist in the installation of flex plate bolts, they also supplied a plastic 28mm grommet to close the hole up after installation.

My experience was that regardless of the 28mm hole, the installation of the bolts is entirely achievable and only made marginally easier by the 28mm hole. I was able to use a 13mm straight ratchet spanner and a pair of extra long nose pliers through the standard inspection port to install the bolts. The 28mm hole allows you to get the pliers out of your vision through the inspection port, but i still found it easy enough to do with all tools through the inspection port.

The flex plate bolts they supplied however left a bit to be desired, they looked like longer bolts that had been but down to length. I had to run 3 of the 4 on the bench grinder to repair the start of the thread so they would engage with the TC threads. Nothing hard to do but considering bolts can be purchased in that length...

I wonder why Ashcroft changed their setup? I have one of their early V8 torque converters for the Td5 in mine from maybe 7 or so years ago which was a direct swap in without such modifications.
