    water methanol injection.

HI all, just wondering if anyon e has had any expierience with this on a Td5? I know a few blokes who have it , all be it on a Bitzare****ty Pajero diesel. They do get lower EGTs and a bit more oomph, so they say. Have done a bit of Googleing but nothing on thr Td5. Cheers Brett.

I've been running it on mine for a couple of years , works as intended , I use a ratio of 2/3rds water to 1/3rd methanol, 6 litres of mix lasts me around 5000 kilometers depending on loads etc.
You would use more with a progressive system , but I've set my Hobbs switch to deliver above 22 psi boost , pump is running at around 260 psi

Interesting, always thought with diesels you want to keep water out as it doesn't compress in the cylinders like diesel

Did you get any noticeable power increase or lower egts? Im not looking for a rocket ship take off just a bit little bit more on take off without making it unreliable.
    cheers Brett

FRom what i understand , because it gets injected like a mist it combines with the methanol and gets caught up in the regular combustion mixture. Nopt sure of the exact specifics , but from what i understand it makes the air cooler and more dense on intake for better combustion. Im sure someone will correct me if im wrong or explain a bit better. Cheers Brett.

with a decent set up the droplet size is about the same as what can pass through the air filter on a rainy / humid day, and with the correct nozzle size / methanol to water ratio / system pressure it turns from vapour to gas while increasing the cetane rating.
as well as keeping egt under control it provides a kick in the pants and after 50 something thousand kilometres I have a very clean intake and I suspect pistons and valves ( I would estimate its usage would amount to less than 1% of kilometres travelled

A normal system wouldn't work for your application , VNT or even a remap if you don't have one would be better for overcoming lag. Some are using pre turbo injection for this but I wouldn't recommend it.

Liquid water will not compress. Water vapour acts as a gas. I guess the amount of actual water getting into the cylinder is very small.
