    Better than work!

Well, I finally took the D2 out of the shed and took my brother for a spot of sightseeing. We went Moe-Erica-Beardmores-Fultons Creek-Walhalla pub-Erica pub-Moe. A trip that I have done many times with first time visitors. It’s a short but quite challenging circuit that I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick outing.
There were a couple of interesting things that arose. Firstly, the Thompson River level was much deeper than normal with the water coming over the bonnet. Secondly, the entry to Fultons from the Walhalla Rd, pretty hairy at the best of times, was badly chewed out causing the right back wheel becoming airborne with the steep descent. This caused a bit of panic from the passenger (and a little from the driver, if truth be known).
Then some car issues. For some reason the HDC would not work, constantly beeping throughout. Then just before arriving back in Moe, the ACE light came on. So I’ve a bit of homework to do to sort that out. If anyone has any ideas about these problems, please comment.
There were a couple of good things however, the new Falken Wildpeaks were brilliant. I didn’t even bother to let the tyres down. Secondly, it was a good reminder of how capable the D2 is, even with the issues.
All up, a very enjoyable four hour trip, including a couple of beers. Better than work!Better than work!

Yeah. That's a great little loop - done it quite a few times. Time it so you get back to the Erica Pub for a Hot Rock steak and a few beers and it's a great day out...
Interestingly about a month ago the Thomson crossing was only about half a wheel deep.

About the HDC,,,you know that it must be in LOW for it to work do you?... if yes and it was in low it's possible that the hi/low switch to not work or to have a contact issue so the ECU doesnt get the earth input even though it is mechanically selected

about the ACE, make sure you have serious activity in the tank with engine running first then check if the solenoids and pressure transducer are well connected and if nothing obvious by eye you need to plug in a tester for the fault code

Thanks for the replies fellas, but I have a much bigger issue now.
The day following this trip, after 5 minutes running, no5 pot decided to fill up with coolant causing one two problems. Not looking good I’m afraid. I’ll start a new thread for this when I can finally bring myself to think about working on it again.

I’ve dried it out as well as I can by blasting compressed air through plug hole then turned over the motor for a while to keep oil moving. Earlier, I drained off most of the coolant out of the sump, hopefully leaving mainly oil.
Anyway, I’ll start a new thread for this work.
