Mine will do the same occasionally. I think it's the immobiliser, if I lock then unlock the car, it comes good.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
So it's been another 24 hours and it's like the problem never existed. The car has been starting first time every time and very quickly.
I'm not sure of all the symptoms of the injector seals failing but if that problem causes cranking with no start say 1 out of 20 times or less, then this fits. By all evidence in the last 24hours, the car is perfect.
I've checked the oil level, it doesn't seem to be rising as if fuel has ingressed, but not sure what else to do to check...
Thanks all for your help and suggestions, what a frustrating and rewarding kind of car lol
Don't count your chickens just yet! ..
Check injector plug at the ECU. red plug. pull ECU out to allow access to plugs, check red one for oil at the connector face.
Also check it at the head end too, where the injector loom comes through the head, and into the round plug and then the wires to the ECU.
You're just looking for any traces of oil.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

I found with my injector seals that non starting was just random. It only did it a couple of times in a few months. So it's been another 24 hours and it's like the problem never existed. The car has been starting first time every time and very quickly.
I used to put it down to "Discount Chemist" when it stopped in the supermarket car park, however the second last time it did it was in the caravan park at hastings point, so I couldn't blame RF interference. I fitted a new battery but it failed once again in the garage at home.
That prompted me to change the washers and orings. You will not get a rise in oil level with the washers gone, that is orings. That is about 3 years ago and it has started first turn ever since .
