And better dont ignore the "handbrake light" cos it's not just for the handbrake, it is for brake fluid level and in some cases part of the 3 amigos as well(which makes them 4 amigos then)

Of course in this scenario the OP may actually have had the handbrake on,
However in the past when I've had the 3 amigos, it's usually been 4 , and fixed by replacing an abs sensor.

Can definitely confirm I had the handbrake on when photo taken and mercifully the fourth amigo is staying well in his box. Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear its fairly common at least! Will keep you posted.

Find someone with a Nanocom close by and have them read the faults.
If its a sensor it could just be a dirty connector.
My RR showed up, in the only time I have had 3 amigos. I cleaned the connector near the wheel and never had them since (4 years ago)
Once it's fixed IMHO it's a good idea to exercise the pump by going down a steep hill with HDC engaged every month or so and flush the fluid every 2-3 years.
So far so good.

3 or 4 amigo's just depends on the version of the SLABS ECU that is fitted.
Pre-facelift D2's which haven't had a later revision SLABS fitted get 3.
Later versions SLABS versions originally fitted to the D2a get 4.

You don't actually need a hill to activate the HDC - it can be done just as well on the flat.
The way HDC works is that it applies braking to slow the vehicle to a target speed set by the throttle.
With no throttle input target speed is at its minimum, but it can be increased to something like 50kph.

This means you can drive around in low range with HDC engaged and brakes will only activate when you lift off the throttle.
To exercise the ABS all you need is a quiet bit of flat road where you can accelerate up to 30-40Kph and then let the HDC brake the vehicle down to 5-6kph.

The HDC is designed so you can leave it engaged when driving in low range.
it's a slightly odd experience but worth trying out just to get a feel for how the HDC operates.
