Yep and the difference is you can get an entire reliable 4.6 into a D2 for less than Audi will replace the Air Con blend motors in a Q7 [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

You can get a good LR mechanic to pull your 5 speed box stick in HD Ashcroft bearings and new syncros and put it back on with new clutch and pressurplate (V8) for a third of a reco D3/4 6 speed auto...

100% Agree and all easy to do yourself. Would hate to think of the garage costs.

...sorry but the 79 series rear track is a big issue off road not just because of traction issues but more particularly because it affects cog and makes them even more unstable. They are simply dangerous off road on side slopes. ..seen a few on trips and everyone holds their breath when a 79 comes up the track!
Anyhow..if the LR V8 is not your cuppa tea. ..move on☺

But it's the same width as the 78 Series at the rear so side instability is unaltered from the earlier version, which was a bit tippy anyway.
Actually it's better with the wider front track in some situations.

Thanks to Ozscott, I think I may have secured a 4.6L long motor from a P38.
I could swap over my recently refurbished heads, but I think I will just see how this one runs for now.
Next problem; what to do with that extra 20 odd kilowatts of power? [emoji573][emoji106]
