What source of info did you use to check the cylinder numbers and corresponding coil pack setup. I have seen some conflicting info around.

I use the RAVE manual mate. I think it's free online at some places now. Cheers

Hey mate, I used the two shown in the photos below. Do these look right to you?

    Cheers

The orientation of your first attachment can be misinterpreted, but the second one is pretty clear and is the one I used a couple of years back.

The diagram with the red and blue ignition leads is what I have used.

Must be on the home stretch with the rebuild. Well done.

Well you would think so... I’ve done the same job around 5 times now. Stripped and fitted new coil pack which caused major problems, took it all off and done it again assuming I’d got the firing order wrong, which didn’t resolve anything.

So I took the view it must be the new coil pack failing, put my old coil pack on now and I’m back to just an intermittent misfire.

Going to look at buying a new coil back now rather than a used, see how that works out lol. Any suggestions on what brand etc?

Plus in the many times it’s been on and off the vehicle in the past week my MAF intake pipe has failed (yaaaay). Anyone managed to repair this or is it a case of buy a new one?

At least I can say I know my way around the top end of the engine now V8 engine help/reassurance

    Cheers

Looking at that image the MAF has already been glued together at some stage.
With all the work you have done so far when you order your new coil packs get a new MAF at the same time.
I don't know why anyone would fit secondhand coil packs as it is pretty much the same as putting in secondhand spark plugs, BTW did you fit a new set of spark plugs during the rebuild?

Just to be pedantic that is your IAC inlet pipe.

I made up one using epoxy resin when I installed my Thor manifold.
If you clean it up then insert it into the intake pipe then epoxy it on the inside it should hold.
I bet you will be surprised at how much one costs.
    Regards Philip A
Actually I can see now that the MAF inlet has a stub which the IAC pipe goes onto. Again maybe get a bit of copper pipe the right size and epoxy it in place.

Yep, poor call on my half buying used coil packs. Learnt the hard way about cheap/quick fixes. Are NGK packs any good? Seeing a few generic options about too.

The plugs and leads have been replaced, coil pack (a new one) should hopefully be the final fix.

I had some Red RTV left over from the gasket replacements, seems to be holding up ok on the hose fix - not the prettiest of jobs but it should do until I find a replacement.

    Cheers
