    Td5 CPS

    Hi all
Td5 CPS is dying with nanocom logging lots of CPS related faults.
The question is how to best tackle changing it. It looks easy enough if I could only get to it.
Do I change it from above or below and do I need to buy yet another 10mm socket?
    Cheers,

Can’t help with your specific question but was wondering if maybe the plug is contaminated from a leaky fuel regulator.
    Cheers, Kyle

That's what I was first thinking but the area around the FPR is as dry as a bone.
Every time I start it I get faults logged and the MIL comes on. The engine doesn't stop though.
Today while I was trying to work out how I was going to do it I actually FOUND a 10mm socket.

    First -remove the engine.
    next replace CPS
    reinstall engine.
    EASY.

My hands are pretty big and do you think I could get my hands in there to remove the mongrel?
maybe it would be easier if you removed the starter . I don't know
    So First remove starter.etc.

Remove anything that hinders access to the back.

Lay on top of the engine, one hand over the back, one from intake side.

    Curse a lot.

I think it's an 8mm socket required as well.

It's 50/50 as to whether or not it's easier to unplug before removing g, but it's easier to plug it back in before reinstalling I found.

CPS and CAS have a total of 4 meanings between them.

CPS is Cam Postion sensor OR Crank Position Sensor

CAS is Crank Angle Sensor OR Cam Angle sensor.

depending on which breed of vehicle and country your working in the 2 interchange Cam and Crank and personally I've never come across the situation where both use the same terminology.

IF you have Cam Angle sensor you will have a Crank Position sensor. If you have a Crank Angle sensor then you will have a Cam Position sensor.

you shouldnt have a Cam position sensor and a Crank position sensor or Cam angle and Crank angle.

    My personal belief is that

Crank Angle Is always the correct term for the crank and the Cam Position Sensor should be used for the Cam as engine with variable cam timing change the position of the cam relative to the crank.

That's good. Shouldn't be too hard then. While it's out I may as well do the clutch as well. Hell, why not go for broke and do the centre diff and put an Ashcroft gearbox in it too....

My hands aren't that big. I can just get to it from underneath. I haven't had a good feel around yet - I have to do it outside in the driveway and we've had a few days of rain and the place is a bit soggy to say the least.
