Thread: Brake issues

I have the same problem, put a kit thru the master cylinder and no different. Many others here have done the same and say it's a normal D2 thing, but i would have failed my roadworthy recently if it hadn't been for my mechanic taking it in. Only does it when the engine is running, rock hard pedal when not running, only thing i haven't tried yet is key on but not running so the ABS is powered up. ( keep on forgetting to try).

You replaced the master cylinder or rekitted it ?

Easiest way by far, is to fill the master cylinder and bleed it on the bench before fitting in car , once its bled bung the ports with a screw cap or a pipet with ball bearing behind it. works 100% every time , single person job, no special tools needed.

I have good fluid at the abs pump and i am confident that air is out of the pump and seems ok at the wheels,that is why i asked about if the symptoms were the same for abs seals etc.

Did that this morning. Solid as a rock with the key on, as soon as the engine started the pedal starts to sink. I wonder, where does the brake fliud go?

There are cylinders / solenoid pistons inside the ABS modulator, I would think some air is in there , how or why is another matter, normally when you flush your system the valves are closed and new fluid bypasses there, is why I like to use a different coloured fluid for a flush so you know the old fluid is changed, once bled traditionally , then bleed with Nanocom & the Fluid from the ABS gets flushed through .

I used the nanocom to flush the ABS, three times I did this. I then bled the brakes, again with the Nanocom until the brake fliud was clear and no longr turbid.
