Buying back insurance jobs varies a lot from company to company and it seems some just won't allow it ..insisting on sending the car to auction. I know of some that have been deliberately damaged..written off..bought back and either broken up or sold on for a profit😐...hence insurance assessors reluctance to go with buy backs.

It may come down to your relationship with the company..you can only try if that's what you want to do. I would..

I did ask but they said it was company policy that it went to auction.

Again..it may come down to customer relations. Eg daughters partner rolled his 4.2 turbo GQ..25k payout..no buyback policy but after negotiation..he bought it back for 4k. The rear canopy was later sold for 3k alone...give you some idea😎
