    Greaseable Watts Linkage Centre Pivot

    Grove Auto Engineering in the UK is selling Greaseable Watts Linkage Centre Pivot < discovery 2 Td5/V8 watts linkage greasable watts linkage centre pivot | website >. Would the grease point actually make a difference to the life and operation of these bushes?

    In the UK it would by displacing corrosion for sure.

    We’re at 195,000km on the factory bush so I don’t see much benefit here.

    When mines were changed it took some struggle to press out the old bushes and the new ones went in hard as well so as long as they are so tight i don't understand where that grease can go on the outer circumference of those bushes cos IMO they are not supposed to turn around in the linkage

    It looks like the bushes are replaced with bearings.

    I found the explanation where the grease is going on the other forum where it's a discussion about them and it makes sense D2BC.co.uk - Login

    "The insides of the bushes are actually a solid roller bearing encased in a nylon sleeve.
    My modification allows grease to flow around the internal cavity keeping moisture at bay as that is what kills them.
    The inner joint corrodes wearing the nylon sleeve away creating the play and knocking you get.

    According to his site he uses genuine Land Rover products, or OEM versions in the budget offerings. I believe that the bush in this place is actually a spherical bearing type.

    So he must be putting a hole into the outer casing of the bush that then that alignes with the hole for the grease nipple to allow the grease to get into the internal of the Bush then. From the look of it you could drill into your current setups and then tap a thread in the end to enable a grease nipple to be screwed in place. Won’t look as pretty without the paint though...
