EGR delete.

The harm done by NOX is very well-established. Causes 23,000 deaths a year in the UK alone.

If an EGR was fitted by the manufacturer when the vehicle was released, then it's illegal to remove it.

This is good advice Bohica. Well worth reading up on and come to your own conclusions.

The best recommendation I read was if you do delete your EGR - don’t go posting it on social media. You wouldn’t want to come to attention of the EPA for tampering with an emission control system.

Yeah we did, thats why they came over with them on...

the initial adoption was in 2002 with all states onboard late 2003.

Trucks remained only to be compliant with the smoke standard until about 2011 when the prelim for euro 4 was pushed in.

this means...

depending on how you register your defender (commercial vehicle reg technically put it into truck/bus reg ins some states) its hypothetically legal to remove the EGR on all pre MY02 td5s, some 02/03 and some defenders up to the end of the run.

I wouldn't advise trying to argue it if you get caught out.

Its theoretically possible to get a td5 to pass euro5 but theres no requirement to as our emission control regs dont require retrofit. (yet)

Estimated to...... not does....They can’t provide direct evidence to prove it does.

Have a look at Benzine... then the volume of benzine vehicles - almost all vehicles over 5 years with a Petrol Cat are no longer emissions compliant.

A proper functioning EGR though is very effective at reducing Nox levels - but it comes at a cost.

Regardless, I’d be far more concerned about Unleaded than diesel.

But but but....

When I installed the new exhaust I bought it with a (high flow) cat, too.

So I tried, but there's no way I'd continue to allow the corrosive, abrasive sludge inducing EGR to remain intact.

It's pretty simple:

Petrol emissions are bad for the climate
Diesel emissions are bad for human health

So which do you want to harm, people or the planet on which we all depend?
