IIRC D2 uses the same type of rubber ring mounts as the D1 and the RRC before it.
I did my RRC back in the day, and it was all actually easier than I thought it was going to be.
I replaced them as they were all squashed .. and just looked sick in terms of rubberiness.
But the RRC was easy as all the bolts were fitted from the underside going up, so the nut was up top. Undo, slip bolt down and raise body a mm or two and slip out old rubber and put in new ones.
I have a porta power with the jaws attachment and used that to lift the body a few mm near each specific mount to remove/replace each rubber pair.
Been looking at my D1(regularly) as some are also squished looking, so most likely overly hard compared to new rubbers.
But the problem is some of the bolts look to be fitted from top down(nuts on bottom) so that the bolt has no way for the rubber to slide off.
Maybe I'm dreaming, but one day want to attack it and just do it .. but more than likely will need to cut some bolts to make it easier to do it all.
When do you know? Dunno. sometimes just go on gut feel, on how hard/bad/cracked the rubbers look I guess .. that's how I did my RRC.
Made a slight difference as I remember to knocking and creaking on bad bitumen.
A 4 speed RRC made so much noise, hard to tell. I had one good local downhill rough road to notice the difference near home.
On rough gravel roads tracks it was way too hard to note any difference of any kind.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
