    ign wont turn off

A mate who bought my old disco 2a td5 is having a problem with the engine not turning off by the key. When he stalls the engine to stop it all the ign lights stay on and the fuel pumps keeps running. It seems to me a switch problem but it could be anything. He removes a battery cable at the moment when he parks up. Any ideas what could solve it.Its done 360,000 ks.

Tell him to unplug the brown connector from the front RH side of the interior fusebox when the engine keeps running with ignition off...if the fault goes away the problem is with the ignition switch, if it keeps running with it unplugged the next suspect is the interior fusebox which can have a short within on the ignition circuit, that fusebox used to suffer from water ingress, the engine bay fusebox can be suspect as well.... another thing is to swap relay R9(main) with R8(heated screen) to rule out stuck main relay... the most uncommon but possible issue can be with the alternator.
