Could it be that the turbo is defective?, because it is not developing pressure. Maybe there is some sort of obstruction or leak in the pipes to the turbo. Those with more experience, might the engine have been cooked up, rings lose tension so compression drops. Compression test might give a clue. Might be why the previous owner sold it, as OP said it has been like that since he bought it.

I have had a problem with an error code coming from the MAF. (Technical forum TD5 fault code 03-07)(Too much voltage) I have not yet discovered the cause, so in I have totally disconnected the MAF and I find it runs better, so until I can find out what the cause is, that’s how it will run. I don’t know if this answers your question OR if it is good but it was getting dangerous to drive with this fault and the car stalling once you start to take off.Quote:

I read somewhere many years ago that if you do not have the mesh, you need about 10inches (25CM) of straight pipe in front of the MAF.
