Is the D2 oil level checked while the engine is running? What about the D1? Might be two different levels for two different ways of checking it?
Hi guys
The 4HP22 auto (electronic) on my D2 is the model without the dipstick, so I thought I would just put a pan of a 4HP22 from a D1 in to give me a dipstick.
When I looked at the dipstick from the D1 I was alittle suprised to see the dipstick dosn't come out the end of the tube and into the pan, which means the fluid level is part way up the dipstick
So on the 4HP22 electronic from the D2 the filling/level plug is the same hight as the dipstick entry, so it seems to me that the fluid level on the D2 is lower than the D1.
So I am confused .... is it a silly idea to put the D1 pan and dipstick on, or am I missing something ?
Thanks
Max

An auto shop fitted a P38 dipstick to my D2 but for some reason it kept popping the dipstick in the tube which unsealed it, so we removed it again. I have no idea why it would do that, I assume it shouldn't.

nope filling the non dipstick version requires that you over fill it past the bottom of the threads on the sump.
the D1 dipstick conversion is a good idea.
