Won't start....sometimes.
Hello brains trust! I have a problem...
Lately, Big Red is having some trouble starting some mornings. Not all mornings mind you.
Sometimes, all I hear are the relays clicking nice and loud. Other times it struggles to turn over. Other times, it fires straight away without a problem.
When it doesn't start, I try all manner of things, such as locking car, unlocking, trying again. Move gear lever up and down. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, I just keep turning the key, in the hope it will start.
One particular morning, it was being quite stubborn. So I was attempting to push it out of the carport, so I could attach some jumper leads to the D3. Of course, I couldn't move it, but did wiggle it. I jumped back in, hoping it would start. Low and behold, it fired!
If this were a battery thing, it wouldn't start at all, right?
Apologies if this has been asked and answered multiple times...

Wow. A broad canvas.
I would first look at the battery terminals and where the earths join the body and clean them all up.
i would have the battery checked for capacity as if it voltage drops the ecu may not have enough voltage to fire.
try that first, then you have to start looking elsewhere.

Thanks fellas! Seems it is a starter motor contacts issue.
This morning, she just wouldn't go. Battery terminals all looked good, tried jump starting it, no good.
Rang ol' mate Mal down at Mornington Prestige who advised to hold key on for 5 or so seconds, then keep hitting the ignition many times in a row as quick as possible, so the contacts warm up. After about 10-15 clicks, she started to turn over, then she fired up!
It is now sitting in his workshop, awaiting some new contacts for the starter.
Cheers!
