from what you have told us it sounds like they stuffed up with the service, they should repair/replace your auto "gratis".
I had a repair job done on my TC at Whyatts in Geraldton and they made a mistake when they reassembled it But they also owned up to their mistake and re did the TC Free of charge and in quick order as well.
ANY reputable workshop will do the same.
Well a lot happened today...
I contacted RAA technical support who did a lot of digging today. He also said the symptoms didn't match the diagnosis.
After their digging It worked out the torque converter is back with the original company that overhauled it last time.
I had a long talk with them and as soon as they found out they overhauled it the whole game changed. They opened up and admitted it looks like a part failure in the converter took out the gearbox. The bearing/surface looked very soft and badly worn and probably caused the splines to wear prematurely. They are going to test the metal strength to see what is going on. He assures me they are using better internal converter parts now as 100,000km was a very poor service life and not normal. They confirmed it is in no way a service or usage problem after telling they how the car was driven and over serviced.
I get the feeling that they might support me with a discount, well I hope so. They were also confused how it drove considering the internal damage found. Their quick diagnosis was planetary gear or clutch problem not converter.
So it tricked everyone.
So it looks like a suck it up and pay up job.
[smilebigeye] With you being a "Returning Customer" you should get a decent discount. "If you don't ask you don't get" as 'er indoors would often say.[biggrin]
