Disco 2 Lower Ball Joint putting up a fight

I’vehad my 2000 disco 2 td5 for just over a week. Need to replace the upper and lower ball joints. I’ve managed to get the top joint out 🥳 using a removal tool. However the lower joint is stuck half way. I’ve tried shocking it, heating and adding wd40. Letting it cool. Still no luck. Any suggestions. I’m thinking of trying a 6tn bottle to try and free it. Anyone got any other suggestions or experience in getting these joints out.

I haven't had the pleasure of attacking one yet, but having it half out and then stuck sucks.
Mostly with press jobs once moving they keep going.
Having said that I've had 'fun' pressing A frame ball joints and surprisingly, radius arm bushes. The radius arm bushes almost maxed out a 40 tonne press.

I'd be using a portable hydraulic press next.

And mine will probably be due soon, the boots have been torn for years.
Maybe I'll save some agro and get the local garage to do them?

    What in the????

Wish I could charge that, but I have some sort of moral compass...

The Lemforder joints are $53 each max, and if you take more than 4 hours to do the job, using the right tools, then that is very unusual.

Good suggestion - Using the ball joint remover, is how i got it half way, I'm tempted to try and drill it out. Anyone had any experience doing this?

Pretty sure you'll need more than your average drill bit on them.

It's hard to figure out why it has stopped halfway. As Rick says, once they start they usually keep going. Are you sure your tool still has some travel and is not bottomed out?

    Hi
Yes that was with lemforder joints at $53 they quoted 6 hours labour to do the job which I thought a bit much but having not done them before I was unshore how long they would take
