Greetings fellow travellers,

I've been able to find fragments of info about fitting the transmission dipstick/filling neck from a P38 onto a Discovery 2, but in most instances the transplantee seems to have swapped out their entire transmission sump/oil pan at the same time. I have a P38 dipstick and filler tube and I'm wondering how it attaches to the transmission sump because I can't find any pictures that clearly illustrate what's going on down there. Is there an additional point of entry where the filling neck attaches to the sump pan or do I just need to replace my fill plug with a correctly threaded nipple and bolt it on there? If so does anyone know what the thread type is on the D2a fill plug? It doesn't match any of the readily available plumbing parts at the big hardware stores so will probably have to come from Hydraulink or Specialty Fasteners. I'm not too worried about different models/varying fill levels at this stage, I've just had enough of my monthly ATF cleanse and braise and need a better way of topping it up. If I can get this to work then my final hot pink shower will involve filling it to the correct level and seeing exactly where it reads on the dipstick. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
