    Bloody Water!

Yesterday driving back from Cloncurry to Doomadgee it's all going well cruising between 105 & 110 kph with the Nanacom showing around 90 degrees engine temps & all other values where they usually are.
After 5 hours of the above we get to the Gregory River which is flowing at a bit less than .4 of a meter, I stop & let the car idle for 15 or 20 minutes then puddle across with the water coming to the top of the bull bar main bit (bottom of the high grill), no problems. Pull up the other side & get out to inspect the car & all looks good.
Get going back up to 105 & then I get a bit "Thick" & forget a dip that's just around a bend & just happens to be full of water, hit the brakes hard & let them go just as I hit the water, I had probably knocked 30kph off my speed but wasn't really looking at the speedo right then.
Anyway, a big splash, water was maybe 100mm, & off we go until 30 seconds latter the Gear Box Temperature warning light comes on?? I pull over inspect under car, just water & mud everywhere, idle car for 10 minutes, turn car off for 5 minutes but the light still comes up on the dash.
Drove home steadily & slowly, light did not go off.
Just before Doomadgee in another water crossing maybe 200 deep which I just idled through.

My question is have I managed to get water in the Gear box (auto) or have I just wet or dislodged a sensor on the gear box?
I think I will change the Gear Box oil anyway but if its the sensor where the hell is it located?

No the temperature sensor is at the front left of the car AFAIK under the air cleaner body.
You have to remove the inner guard plastic to see it apparently, as I have not had to do it.
I had the same problem with my old RRC. Maybe just wet contacts or a new sensor.\

There is a connector tucked up above the gearbox/transfer case for the not-fitted TC temp sensor that is only fitted to the V8. I fitted a temp sensor to mine - may as well have it in case the TC oil overheats from being low in oil.

The other option is water in the 2 wiring connectors that are not connected to the transfer case temp sensor in the td5 Aussie market. They hang down on the passenger side of the gearbox near the shifter cable and XYZ switch wiring. The trans temp light is also illuminated when the transfer case is hot...

The autobox oil temp switch is screwed into the RH bottom side of the cooler, that's suspect

Of course I meant front right. Front left was RRC.
But that is most likely villain.

It'll probably be water in the temp sensor.
V8Ian copped that when we went through the Condamine gorge crossings a few weekends ago.
Probably to be expected in a 17yo car, and not a game stopper.

Since getting back from Cloncurry I have been busy but had to use the D2 today and............ the light has gone out & did not come back on.
I'm thinking water in the sensor conctor that has since dried out.
I will still change the Auto fluid though. (Well, I won't, I have a Deisel Fitter who works for me & he will. )
