Thread: How to remove CD/Radio in 2003 D2??

Get a couple of bits of coat hanger wire and bend them into a "U" shape. Poke the four ends into the holes and push fairly hard and the radio can be released. You'll probably have to wiggle them around a bit to get them engaged just right but with a bit of perserverance it'll work OK.

Others suggest there are retaining clips on very top of radio and I just need to insert a blade/tool to depress the retaining clips.
I couldn't even fit a trimming blade through the top of radio and dash (tight as!!)
This radio is original, but only has 4 small holes (about 2mm round), 1 near each corner of the facia of the CD/radio player.
Cannot determine what sort of fastening retains the radio in.
Any directions on where I can get info to remove either facia or all radio as a unit??

Find a wire coat hanger and from it cut 4 straight pieces about 75mm long - insert them into the holes until they are home and the retaining clips are now released . The proper tools are 2 “U” shaped pieces of wire the ends fashioned so they “catch” on part of radio so when you tug on the removal tools the radio comes too...

If you have a metal work file make a groove around the end of each wire about 3 or 4mm back from the tip - you will succeed , remember that “persistence pays”

12 month ago went to an Autobarn store to buy the radio removal tools and was told that they just don’t sell them to everyone that walks in - but if I made an appointment with their accessory fitter out back of the store he would “legally” remove the radio for me - for a fee of course bloody pompous &$@“#%£<€¥
I feel better now....

Some pics of how to remove the std radio using genuine tools in the following thread. Like others here I’ve also used bent coat hanger wire successfully but it’s more fiddly.
