get the dowl, theres enough slop on the bolt holes to allow issues espesially if the bolt holes have been used with slider guides made of bolts with long threads
So I'm about to fit my new LT230 and realise I can't find the 15mm dowels that locate the case against the auto. Are the bolts good enough by themselves or do I need to find some new dowels?

I made some by cutting the heads of some fencing bolts that had a suitable thread. (M10?) I cut a screwdriver slot in the cut end so I could get them in and out.
Don.
That might work for the small dowel , but the large one on the top left of case needs the bolt through it .
15mm OD , 10mm ID , about 15-20mm long , and as above, it does need to be there
I think 2 of the prior posters were providing instructions on how to make guide pegs to make the install easier.
I like to use 3 guide pegs (one of them in the dowl that takes the bolt) where I can (2 minimum) but they cant be too much longer than 100mm once they're screwed in or you will have hassles getting the tcase up and on in a disco.

ahh , yep I see the confusion now ( must be getting old ) for the guides I use old bell housing bolts ( less slop ) with a slot to remove after transfer case is bolted up.
Small dowel is 10mm as well from memory
