    Shuttle Valve Switch Replacement

So after confirmation using the Nancom a while back that the fault is from the shuttle valve I have gone ahead and purchased the replacement kit for the switch pack. Anybody had experience installing this and come across any issues?

If this does not work then maybe the shuttle valve replacement next......

Should be on this site somewhere, I tried to attach it but it wont allow a WordDoc.

It will allow, but you have to re-save it as the old 95/97? word version first

    replacing shuttle valve switch

I recently had problems with the 3 amigos and decided to replace the shuttle valve switch , a fairly easy job if you know how . There are a few u tube videos and other information available on line . I will give you a brief explanation of what I did , first remove the three mounts that hold the whole assembly in place then you have to manipulate it into a position where you can undo the 3 screws holding the wabco to the body ,this will involve some bending of the pipes which are soft and bend fairly easily (the reason that they are soft is so that in an accident they will bend and not break giving you breaking ability) . Then remove the 3 screws and lever the wabco down and out . I also re wired the wabco by splicing a positive and earth wire to the harness as the contacts in the valve body can become corroded and cause the 3 amigos to appear .Check u tube and other on line resources for this information as you will need a couple of diagrams of which wires to splice . I have not had a problem since and it also solved an intermittent problem I was having with the cruise control

There use to be Utube video of the process. I bought the kit but in process of research learnt to test the old switch (which was ok) made wiring mods to it and old switch still in 2yr later with no problems. You can test system with circuit tester I can't remember the pins but can give indication if circuit broken inside wabco unit....but not necessarily because can touch sometimes (hence intermittent). If old switch tests ok (using voltmeter).....then definitely rewire (highly likely problem in circuit)....easy job...you'll need to cut and solder wires together, taking care which wire you slice on plug side. Even if switch fails volt test you still might want to rewire to rule both out. Cheers, M

So did the switch replacement but not the wiring mod and the Disco went in for a full service yesterday at Mark Nixon Auto in Townsville (who were awesome btw) and that has cleared the code. I will monitor going forward but great not to have these lights up anymore

Old switch wiring was crumbling and in a very bad state.
