    TD5 strange starting issue

Getting the D2a ready to go back on the road. While trying to start the thing, when you turn the key it cranks once ( half a second maybe) and then nothing. This is with the key being held in the start position. Returning the key to off and trying again produces the same result. Thought I would ask while I wait for the battery to fully change ( to eliminate that potential issue).

    TIA

Either the battery is flat, or just dirty loose terminals or the contacts in the solenoid need replacing.(Easy job once you get the starter out, which can be a hard job)

I just had that same issue with the brothers D2 in my yard yesterday.
I've been fixing up the centre console and heater fan, it's taken a long time(maybe 5 weeks) car just sitting.
Did do a start or two, but don't have a charger ATM, mine's busted.
But with the mangled mess of wiring and runnign the heater fan for a while, I've drained the battery, I think the start went down to low 11s, aux high 11s.

Did the same thing on start up yesterday, where it wound over for a sec then just stopped cranking.
Pushed the over ride switch on the dual battery solenoid, and still not enough to get more than that short sec crank.

Hooked up the truck battery .. mongrel heavy bar... stool that it is, cranked instantly.
Had it running for a good half to one hour just to give the batteries a bit of an advantage for this morning, and no problems cranking this morning

Hopefully just a low battery, if it's been sitting for a bit.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
